For over 40 years the New England Region of Wound Ostomy and Continence nurses have sponsored/supported adolescents between the ages of 11-17 years of age who are living with conditions of the bowel and bladder. These youths have ostomies; inflammatory bowel disease, or urinary or fecal incontinence. They participate in a five night one of a kind experience called Youth Rally. The camp is held at various university campuses throughout the United States in July; San Diego, Colorado, or Washington.
The New England Region holds an auction every year at our fall conference to raise money for this great cause. All funds go directly to Youth Rally. Youth Rally allows these children to be in a safe structured environment where they are free to share their fears and feelings without the worry of embarrassment or criticism from their peers. Campers are provided with education, socialization, emotional support and a great life changing experience. The camp is chaperoned by nurses and volunteers. Medical conditions such as these can cause not only physical but emotional and financial hardship to families. The cost of Youth Rally Camp is $425.00 dollars plus airfare per camper.
This year, we ask you to please consider making a donation directly to YOUTH RALLY through the link below in memory of Eileen McCann, long time member of the New England Region of the WOCN and Youth Rally Supporter who passed away last November.
Please email Marian Barry-Ravagni at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 781-233-0345 for information regarding Silent Auction items. Items can be brought directly to the conference from both attendees and exhibitors and be dropped off at the registration desk at the Fall Conference October 19th & 20th 2018.
